Job Summary:
USD #261 Haysville Public Schools is hiring a World Class principal to lead Ruth Clark Elementary. The district is seeking an individual who is committed to building a culture that ensures success for all students. The successful candidate will lead a school with an enrollment of approximately 325 students and 70 staff members. The Haysville School System is the 18th largest Kansas School district and combines the personalized spirit of a small town with a top-notch staff, curriculum and facilities normally associated with larger communities. With care and individual attention, we focus on putting each student on the road to a lifetime of learning.
Encompassing 36 square miles of south-central Sedgwick County, the Haysville School District (USD 261) draws students from a wide range of urban and rural backgrounds to create a rich, well-blended student body. Our curriculum, designed to meet each student's educational needs, emphasizes the core academic areas of reading, math, science, and social studies, while incorporating all State of Kansas standards for education and reflecting national curriculum reform efforts. Our schools offer a safe learning environment with excellent teachers and staff focused on the success of their students. To meet the unique needs of each learner, the academic progress of students is monitored for early intervention.
Qualifications: Valid Kansas Administrative licensure appropriate for specific level.
Performance Responsibilities:
Instructional Leader
- Strategically manages staff resources, assigning and scheduling teachers to roles and responsibilities that maximize their impact on students' academic success and well-being.
- Develops and implements plans to: Increase student achievement, Increase attendance, Increase graduation rates, Strengthen instructional opportunities.
- Develops and ensures the implementation of rigorous systems of curriculum, instructions and assessment, aligned to state standards.
Organizational Leader
- Provide a safe learning environment for students and staff.
- Implements the District Strategic Plan at the building level.
- Lead a staff of administrative, certificated and classified personnel assigned to the school.
- Strategically develops and cultivates shared school mission and core values that support a high-quality education and the academic success and well-being of each student.
- Selects and mentors a World Class school staff.
- Strategically creates opportunities for teacher leadership, including faculty-initiated improvement of programs and practice, and opportunities for staff to provide feedback and participate in decision-making.
- Develops and manages productive relationships with feeder schools.
- Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
- Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary.
- Budgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business.
Community Leader
- Creates and sustains positive, collaborative and productive relationships with families.
- Establishes and maintains connections with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs.
- Maintains active relationships with students and parents.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-pace, high-intensive work environment.
